Biomass BoilerWest Branch School SignWest Branch Area School District has been    working with McClure Company energy engineers on a four step project to improve the efficiency and environmental friendliness of their buildings. Over the next twenty years they anticipate saving the school 3.3 million dollars. The first three stages of the project have already saved 1.2 million dollars over the last eight years. The fourth stage of the project added a new Messersmith Biomass Boiler System to provide heat for the school. The distrct expects to displace 60,000 gallons of fuel oil per year by burning 982 tons of chips annually. The biomass boiler is projected to save the school over a hundred thousand dollars a year and 1.3 million dollars over the next twenty years. West Branch Area School District received a grant from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for a portion of the total project cost of 2.2 million dollars.
